Dakota Communities support adults and children in their family homes, their communities, and
33 Dakota Communities residential settings throughout the Greater Twin Cities
metropolitan area. We currently provide services in eight counties:
Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Sherburne, Washington, and
Wright.

Dakota Communities has created welcoming, peaceful
settings in 33 locations that people can be proud of as any other
homeowner would. Creating that home environment includes providing
choices - choices about everything from the colors in the bedspread and
curtains, the flowers planted in the garden, and recreational activities
in the community.

Some of the supports provided in our residential homes include:
Daily Living Supports Person centered, outcome based, planning and enhancement of decision-making skills, sensory and motor development, self-care, interpersonal skills, community living, money management, and household responsibilities. For people who choose not to participate in outside employment or day training and habilitative services, additional support during the daytime is provided. Health Services Nursing services, nutritional assessment and meal planning, occupational therapy assessments, environmental adaptations, assistive technology and communication devices, adaptive equipment, sensory integration and massage therapy.Recreational Opportunities Leisure and recreation assessment through our Therapeutic Recreation Program, winner of the ANCOR Foundation's 2006 "Community Builder Award," our Garden Therapy Program, opportunities to be active in one's own community through volunteering, taking classes, making new friends and maintaining relationships with family and friends.
